Postberg Flower Trail Sept 2013, a set on Flickr.
Once again, that time of year on the West Coast of the Western Cape when the flowers come out in all their magnificent glory. There are different ways and places to experience the beauty, but none as close to nature as the stunning overnight hike through the Postberg Private Nature Reserve. The Reserve accessed through the West Coast National Park and is managed by SANParks on behalf of private owners and only opened to the public duringt the August / September flower season.
You have to carry your own food and camping gear and the overnight ablutions are basic, so it does not fit in to the ‘slackpacking’ category, but it is well worth the effort. Thanks to Ray, Mountain Africa Guided Hikes for organising this group. The picture tell the story.
