Klipspringer on Table Mountain

These photos taken by Mariana Delport of Cape Eco Tours, while walking the Table Mountain Trail on 12th November 2010. Klipspringer were recently reintroduced to the Back Table of Table Mountain, but sightings and particularly photographs are still rare.

The next day on the same walk, a photo of the Disa Rosea near Echo Valley and the Cape Crag Lizard at Maclears Beacon. He stayed in one place for quite a while to have his photo taken.

Sevilla Trail – Cedarberg

The Cedarberg is always an amazing place to hike, make contact with nature and generally experience the outdoors. I expanded my own experience of this with a hike down the Sevilla Trail, led by Kevin Matheson of Afruka Eco Tours. It is an easy two hour walk that takes you to a series of nine sites of bushman paintings. There is a real feel of what it must have been like in the years before European settlers inhabited the Cape and the indigenous people lived off the land.

This is part of the experience offered by Kevin on the Cedarberg Wilderness overnight trip.

Addo Elephant Park visit

There is no better place to be if you want to see elephants than the Addo Elephant Park. The game viewing was generally good, but the elephants experience was the best. Getting up close to these huge animals is an awe inspiring experience. The one on the night drive, a particularly magnificent male, felt almost close enough to touch.

This trip was not about hiking, but overnight hikes and horse riding can be arranged in certain sections of the park.
