‘Wake Up on Table Mountain’-Kirstenbosch Excursion (1½ Days / 1 night)
Day 1
Meet your guide/s in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on the eastern side of the mountain at 14h00. Join a specialist Kirstenbosch guide for a tour through the gardens to the contour path. From here the mountain guide will select the route to be taken to the top, according to the group’s ability and the weather.
Arrive at the Overseer’s Cottages, where you are re-united with your overnight luggage. After a hot shower, enjoy pre-dinner drinks while overlooking False Bay and the distant mountain ranges, or Orange Kloof (weather dependent). Then it is time for a South African braai (barbecue) or potjiekos (cast-iron pot-on-the-fire) stew, which is served around the fire – either under the stars, or inside on cooler evenings.
Day 2
A wholesome breakfast is followed by a stroll to the Waterworks Museum. Then it’s on to the top of Kasteels Poort on the western side of the mountain for the vital photograph of ‘the diving board’ that overlooks Camps Bay and the Atlantic Coastline, far below. The walk back to the cottages takes you past the historic Hely-Hutchinson, Woodhead, Victoria and Alexandra dams, and back towards the view of False Bay and the Cape Flats.
After a final picnic we complete the experience with a hike down to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, after which you will be re-united with your overnight luggage.
